Heather Brannon

About:

Miss Heather received her AA Degree and Preschool certification from Pierce College and her Bachelor’s Degree from California State University, Northridge. She has been teaching at First Pres for 12 years because she loves the friendly and community environment. She enjoys the children in her class and helping them grow emotionally, academically and spiritually. When she is not at school, Miss Heather enjoys interior design and crafting.

Beverly Mansour

About:

Miss Beverly received her ECE Certificate from St. Claire College and her Bachelor’s Degree from Windsor University. She has been teaching at First Pres for 21 years, because she loves the excitement she sees in the students when concepts begin to click as well as the dedicated teachers and caring, nurturing community environment. Miss Beverly delights in showing patience and care in her interactions with young learners and genuinely has their best interests at heart. Miss Beverly takes this same selflessness with her outside of First Pres; like baking over 300 deserts for her daughter’s wedding.

Aimee Adams

About:

Miss Aimee has been teaching at First Pres for 7 years with a love for the community of parents and staff that make work feel like a “home away from home.” She enjoys seeing the children grow and learn, watching them progress as the year goes by then seeing them continue on in other grades at First Pres. While these students are in her class she wants them to know that she is invested and committed to setting them up for success. When she is not at school, Miss Aimee enjoys spending time outdoors and camping with her husband and two children.

Jennifer Ramirez

About:

Miss Jennifer has been teaching at First Pres for 9 years. She enjoys First Pres because the openness to new ideas and the family environment. Her favorite thing about teaching is when she hears the students laughing, because she knows they are having fun in their learning environment. She starts to see the children building more interpersonal skills and begin to build friendships. When Miss Jennifer is not at First Pres she enjoys scrapbooking and creating beautiful memories because “a picture is worth a thousand words, but memories are priceless.”

About:

Miss Christina graduated Cum Laude with her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from California State University, Channel Islands. She has been teaching at First Pres for 3 years and loves seeing how much fun the children have at school. She enjoys creating lessons that are based on the interests and needs of her students. In her classroom, Miss Christina aims to create a solid foundation to continue building on as they go about their academic career. When she is not at school, Miss Christina loves all things Disney and frequents Disneyland.

Miss Barb has been at First Pres for 20 years. She received her Preschool Certification from UCLA Extension Education. She enjoys teaching for the joy of seeing the curiosity of her students. Her favorite thing about First Pres is the small, family centered community, where she can teach as well as nurture and care for her students. When she is not teaching, she enjoys spending time in nature.

Alicia Ruzicka

About:

Miss Alicia has been teaching at First Pres for 3 years. She went to school in Buffalo, NY then studied at Mission College in California. Her favorite thing about teaching is the family centered environment fostered at First Pres as well as the creativity she gets to see in her students in the Purple Room. She loves seeing her students grow in confidence, and when she is not teaching she enjoys roller skating and has even participated in past Roller Derbies!

Miss Stacey received her Early Childhood Certificate from Mission College and has been at First Pres for 6 years. She loves the sense of community and the Christ centered, learning environment. With her love of working with children, she wishes they remember the fun they had and all they learned through the play and activities she created for them in the classroom.

Miss Gladys received her Bachelor’s Degree from California State University, Northridge and has been teaching at First Pres for 18 years. She loves seeing the friendships and relationships that form between students. In her classrooms, she enjoys hearing the interesting and unique thoughts her students have and express. She hopes her students remember what a special, happy place First Pres has been and that they are valued and loved. When she is not at First Pres, Miss Gladys loves all things Harry Potter. She has read through the entire series three times!

Miss Lisa has been teaching at First Pres for 13 years. She loves watching young learners and the carefree nature they carry with them throughout their school days. Her passion for teaching stems from the sense of gratification she gets when she sees the faces of her students when she introduces new concepts and ideas. When she is not at First Pres, Miss Lisa enjoys watching football and going to the beach.

Juliana Price

About:

Miss Juliana earned her Associates degree and Early Childhood Development Certificate at CSUN and College of the Canyons. In her third year with First Pres, Miss Juliana enjoys sharing ideas and collaborating with teachers and pursuing innovative teaching methods for her students. Seeing her students’ “aha I did it!” moments, the excitement and laughter they experience are favorite parts of her class. Upon leaving preschool, she hopes her students remember the love, fun and good times they had in her hands-on learning classroom. When not with her students, Miss Juliana enjoys activities such as hiking, biking, board games, and gardening with her family and friends.

Genny Ellena

About:

Miss Genny received her Early Childhood Credential from UCLA and has been teaching at First Pres for 25 years. What has kept her at First Pres so long is her love for the sense of community and comradery between parents and teachers. She loves creating a fun learning environment and hopes her students remember her class as an enjoyable experience as they grew. When she is not teaching, Miss Genny loves being outside; spending her time gardening and feeding hummingbirds.

About:

Ms. Pennington has been teaching at First Pres for over fifteen years. She attended California Lutheran University, where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, her elementary teaching credential, and her Master’s Degree in Education. She has a love for soccer and for ensuring her students leave her classroom with a love for learning that can be taken with them after the family centered environment at First Pres.

Kellee Garner

About:

Ms. Garner has taught at First Pres for 5 years. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from USC and her teaching credential from Mount St. Mary’s. After she obtained her degree from USC, she was a counselor in a juvenile delinquency facility, where she counseled inmates. She loves teaching at First Pres because of the families and the support they show to their children as well as the staff. Ms. Garner is currently teaching 2nd grade, where she finds joy in watching students grow into independent learners. When thinking back on her class, Ms. Garner wants students to remember the safe learning environment.

About:

Ms. Park received her Bachelor’s Degree as well as teaching credential from California State University Northridge. She has been working at First Pres for 13 years! She’s stayed at First Pres for so many years because of her love of the small classes that allow more one-on-one time with the students. Ms. Park wants students to look back at her class and remember the fun of learning and daily devotionals. When Ms. Park is not at First Pres she spends her time appreciating art, shopping and being with animals.

About:

Mrs. Deach received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Master’s Degree in Education from California Lutheran University. She has been at First Pres for 17 years because of her love for the small classroom environment and Christ centered environment. When Mrs. Deach is not teaching, she enjoys exercise. When her students look back at her class, she wants them to remember the priorities and organizational skills they learned and abundance of love displayed in her classroom.

Sonya Henderson

About:

Ms. Henderson received her AA from Santa Barbara City College and her Bachelor’s Degree from Azusa Pacific University, then received her Master’s Degree from Grand Canyon University. Ms. Henderson has been teaching for 17 years with one year at First Pres. She’s excited to be here because of her love for the positive and encouraging environment. She loves teaching her students to think outside of the box, and when she is not teaching, she enjoys spending her time sewing.

She has been teaching at First Pres for 3 years and enjoys passing on her love for music to her students. She hopes her students leave her class with a love for music and using it to glorify God. When she is not at school she loves to cook, collect China and ride her motorcycle!

Ms. Godoy has been teaching at First Pres for 3 years. She loves the team at First Pres and the centralized goal to foster a passion for learning in students. Laura likes to show her students the fun of communicating with people from all over the world in other languages through her engaging and interactive lessons. She wishes her students remember how much fun they had learning a new language when they leave her class. When she is not at school, Ms. Godoy loves to cook and crochet.

About:

Ms. Martinez attended Queretaro University UAQ. Mex. where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology & Special Education. She also attended Azusa Pacific University, and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Ministry. In addition, she has attended Parent Engagement Program at California State University, Northridge. Ms. Martinez has taught at First Pres for 4 years and enjoys helping the children and working with them to learn her native language. When she is not at First Pres, Ms. Martinez enjoys reading and swimming.

With a bachelor’s degree in Business/Office Administration from CSUN and in her 18th year at First Pres, Ms. Mitchell incorporates her love of the school community and passion for learning new things to continually provide innovative teaching methods in coding, typing, computers and engaging book recommendations to her students. She enjoys seeing the excitement of students as they learn new things, and she hopes they remember the value of her lessons and her kindness. When not at First Pres, Ms. Mitchell enjoys spending time with her family, reading and gardening.

About:

Coach Scott received his Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from California State University, Northridge. He has been teaching at First Pres for 9 years as he enjoys the family-like community and can spend time outside with his students and teach them the fun of fitness. He enjoys playing basketball and softball outside of First Pres and encourages his students to continue to participate in physical activities they enjoy.

Mrs. O’Connor Received her Master’s Degree from California Lutheran University and has been teaching at First Pres for 28 years. She loves sharing the Word of God with her students and His immense love for each of them. She deeply cares that each of her students are aware of how special they are. When she is not teaching, Mrs. O’Connor loves to boat, travel and sing.

Mrs. Gendler received her Bachelor’s Degree from Washburn University and has been at First Pres for 18 years. She incorporates hands-on learning in her classrooms and enjoys watching the students grasp the understanding of the lesson’s concepts. She hopes each student leaves her class with a passion for learning and love for science.
