Your Foundation for the Future.
To help students develop a life-long love of learning, First Presbyterian Preparatory School offers a unique FAITH based education focused on friendship, academics, imagination, technology, and honor.
Accredited by WASC and NAEYC, the course of study at First Pres Prep is designed to reveal your child’s true potential. We believe in our students’ capacity to learn. Our administration, faculty and student body use a growth mindset to maintain a rigorous standard of excellence. Annually, our students rank within the top 10% nationwide on standardized tests. Likewise, our graduates are consistently accepted into the finest middle schools and high schools throughout Los Angeles, going on to attend the best universities and colleges in the nation.
Our highly qualified, credentialed teachers provide students with an enriching and engaging curriculum that forges meaningful connections between textbook concepts and the real world. From core curriculum like language arts, math, and our STEAM emphasis to supplemental programs in music, art, Spanish, Bible, and technology, every day at First Pres Prep offers students new opportunities for personal growth, leadership, creative expression, and the skills needed to compete in today’s world – all within a nurturing Christian environment.
The First Pres Prep preschool and elementary educational programs are the place where “What do you want to be?” becomes “The sky is the limit!”. We do more than teach students how to ace the test. We foster a nurturing environment where kids can explore their dreams and passions and chart a course for sustained success.
Intimate class sizes throughout all grades ensure that every student receives the individual attention needed to grow cognitively, emotionally and spiritually. Our dedicated Discovery Lab, Library, Art Studio, Computer Lab and multiple outdoor play areas allow students to explore a wide variety of interests. Regular field trips, experiential learning assemblies and community outreach activities augment the curriculum to create a dynamic learning environment.
Character education is integrated into the general curriculum. Students learn how to be responsible, respectful, contributing members of a community by studying literature, civics, history, the Bible, world cultures—and by participating in student council, monthly chapel services led by the Pastor, and outreach activities. To acknowledge elementary students who excel at modeling honorable behavior, Citizenship Awards are awarded each trimester and a monthly Fruit of the Spirit Award goes to one student in each grade. The Fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
